About Ealing

We’re an ambitious council with a clear vision that by 2016, Ealing will be a highly successful borough at the heart of West London, where everyone has the opportunity to prosper and live fulfilling lives in communities which are safe, cohesive and engaged. To achieve this, the Council has identified six strategic themes and objectives:

  • Children and young people - to create a great place for every child and young person to grow up

  • Environment, housing and culture - to make Ealing a better place to live

  • Safety - to make Ealing one of the safest places in London

  • Health and independence - to reduce health inequalities and promote well-being and independence for adults and older people

  • Economy - to ensure that there are opportunities for all people and businesses to prosper

  • Organisational improvement - becoming a high performing organisation, focused on the needs of its communities

In addition to this, we’re also continuously working towards more active, cohesive and sustainable communities and reducing inequality and the achievement gap.

Living and working in Ealing

The Borough of Ealing provides the best of both worlds. Comprising of seven districts (Ealing, Southall, Hanwell, Acton, Northolt, Perivale and Greenford) it is within easy reach of central London, as well as Heathrow Airport and the towns and countryside of South East England.

Despite relatively high demand, there is still a great choice of excellent quality housing available. From newly built luxury apartments to Victorian and Edwardian terraces offering peaceful living in pretty, tree-lined streets. The borough is also home to some of the best schools in the country and some of the best teachers – as recognised at the recent London Teaching Awards.

Ealing’s Children’s Services is also well renowned and has won a number of national Awards including Best Children’s Service 2008 (LGC Magazine) and Children’s Council of the Year 2009 (Children and Young People Now Magazine).

The borough also boasts a thriving arts scene, excellent leisure facilities and more than eight sq kilometres of parks and green spaces. As one of London's busiest boroughs, there are all the recreational facilities you would expect in a lively metropolitan centre, with museums, a local theatre, cinemas, galleries and an eclectic mix of restaurants and bars to choose from.

For those looking to explore Ealing’s heritage, you’ll be interested in the world famous Ealing Studios. The oldest film studio in the world is best known for its classic ‘Ealing Comedies’, but more recently has helped produce films such as Shrek and Bride and Prejudice. The venue also hosts regular live comedy acts and runs a training school for aspiring actors, aged five upwards.
